Rev. Jonathan Churho Lee was appointed the pastor for Immanuel UMC in 2012. Pastor Jonathan is married to Diane Kim and they have two sons, Caleb Jaesung and Nathan Jaehoon. He previously served at Le Center UMC as the lead pastor since 2005. He has a Master of Divinity from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul and has felt the call into ministry as a life-time minister and missionary. He has shared, “I have prepared for my ministry not only for a church, but also for the world; which God has shown me as His mission field.”
Deb Cupryna was Immanuel’s Administrative Assistant back in 1998, then moved with her husband, John to pastor a church in Independence, Iowa in 1999 for nine years and Spring Lake Park, Minnesota for two years. In 2011, now back in Maple Grove, Minnesota has found her home once again at Immanuel UMC. “It’s great to be back and see God’s blessing in the church with a new addition, which was only a blueprint in 1998”.
Deb grew up in the United Methodist Church attending and being confirmed at Church of Peace in Richfield, Minnesota. Her marriage of 38 years all started with the ceremony at Asbury United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. As a youth there were many summers spent at Church Camp Koronis in Paynesville, Minnesota.
Deb has three grown children and four grandchildren all who reside in Maple Grove. Previous ministries include Children’s Ministry Director, Senior Care Ministries and Women’s Ministries. When time allows for a hobby, she loves to do creative projects and of course, spend time with her family.
Leanne LaFave has been a member of Immanuel UMC her entire life and is proud to call Immanuel her “home church”. She has been playing piano and organ at Immanuel over 40 years for Sunday services and also accompanies the choir each Wednesday evening from September through May. She also plays for special services, weddings, funerals and special music at Immanuel. Leanne is available to play piano for weddings and funerals both at Immanuel, as well as other venues. She has also enjoyed playing for the Cross Community Players productions in the past.
Leanne’s full-time work is being a licensed Realtor with Edina Realty. She has proudly helped people buy and sell their homes for almost 20 years.
Leanne has three grown children (Tonya, Holly and John) who all have children of their own making Leanne a very proud Grandma of 9! Leanne’s fourth child, daughter Jessie sadly lost her courageous battle with cancer in 2009 at age 24 and is a presence that will forever be deeply missed by not only her immediate family, and countless friends, but also her extended family at Immanuel.
Leanne’s favorite pastime is spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.
Chris Lee has been a member of IUMC for eight years. As choir director, she selects a variety of contemporary and traditional music for the Joyful Noise choir to sing. She directs the choir on Sundays and at rehearsals on Wednesday evenings. She co-founded and directs and accompanies the children’s choir, Hallelujah Choir. She is also a member of our Praise Music Team.
Chris grew up in a musical family. She and her brothers and father have provided special music for IUMC and other Christian venues locally. She has two daughters, one here in Maple Grove and one in Massachusetts. She is also blessed with three granddaughters, ages 2, 13 and 15.
Outside of church, she is a part-time nanny and babysitter for several families. She loves music and children and vegetable gardening and jigsaw puzzles.
